Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction

Welcome to The Art of Ceremony ("I", "me", "my", or "the Celebrant"). These Terms and Conditions govern your use of my website theartofceremonybysally.com and the celebrant services I provide.

By using this website or booking my services, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

If you do not agree, please do not use this website or my services.

2. About The Art of Ceremony

The Art of Ceremony provides independent celebrant services, including but not limited to:

  • Wedding ceremonies
  • Funeral ceremonies
  • Memorial ceremonies
  • Naming ceremonies
  • Vow renewals
  • Other bespoke ceremonies

I operate as an independent celebrant based in the United Kingdom.

3. Website Use

You agree to use this website lawfully and respectfully.

You must not:

  • Use the website for unlawful purposes
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website
  • Copy or reproduce website content without permission
  • Introduce viruses or malicious code

I reserve the right to restrict access if these terms are violated.

4. Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including but not limited to:

  • Text
  • Ceremony descriptions
  • Scripts
  • Branding
  • Logo
  • Images (unless otherwise credited)

is the intellectual property of The Art of Ceremony and is protected by copyright laws.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or use any content without written permission.

Personalised ceremony scripts remain the intellectual property of The Art of Ceremony unless otherwise agreed in writing.

5. Booking and Payment Terms

Booking confirmation

A booking is confirmed when:

  • A deposit is paid, and
  • Written confirmation is provided

Until then, your date is not guaranteed.

Deposit

A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to secure your ceremony date.

Final payment

The remaining balance must be paid no later than 28 days before the ceremony.

Failure to pay may result in cancellation of services.

6. Cancellation Policy

Cancellation by client

If you cancel:

  • The deposit is non-refundable
  • Additional fees may apply depending on work already completed

Details:

  • More than 90 days before ceremony: no additional fee beyond deposit
  • Less than 90 days: up to 50% of total fee may be charged

Cancellation by celebrant

If I must cancel due to illness, emergency, or circumstances beyond my control:

  • All payments will be refunded, or
  • A replacement celebrant may be recommended (subject to your approval)

I am not liable for indirect costs.

7. Nature of Celebrant Services

As an independent celebrant:

  • I provide non-legally binding ceremonies unless otherwise stated
  • Clients are responsible for arranging any legal registration separately if required

For example, legal marriage registration must be completed through a registrar.

8. Client Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information
  • Communicate in a timely manner
  • Review ceremony drafts when requested
  • Obtain permissions required for ceremony venues

I am not responsible for issues caused by inaccurate or incomplete information.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Art of Ceremony is not liable for:

  • Indirect or consequential loss
  • Circumstances beyond reasonable control, including weather, venue issues, or third-party failures

Total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for services.

Nothing excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Information on this website is provided for general guidance only.

While I aim for accuracy, I do not guarantee that all information is complete, current, or error-free.

11. Privacy and Data Protection

I am not responsible for failure or delay due to events beyond my control, including:

  • Illness

  • Venue cancellation
  • Emergencies

13. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
